Annual Memorial Day Service

On Memorial Day, May 26, 2025, The Center for Warriors Foundation proudly hosted its Second Annual Memorial Day Service at Memorial Park in Helena, Montana. This powerful and heartfelt ceremony was dedicated to honoring the men and women of our armed forces—both those who gave their lives in combat and those lost to the silent wounds of war.

This year’s event marked a historic moment for our foundation and for the Green Star Family community.

Event Highlights:

Green Star Recognition Begins:
For the first time in U.S. history, the
Eternal Service Medal and Green Star Lapel Pins—both designed and created by The Center for Warriors Foundation—were presented during the ceremony. These honors recognize the veterans who lost their lives to suicide after their service, and the families left behind.

Although the U.S. has not yet issued an official designation for Green Star Families, CFW is leading efforts for legislative recognition to ensure their service and sacrifice are properly honored nationwide.

First Ever Eternal Service Medal Awarded:
The inaugural
Eternal Service Medal was awarded posthumously to a veteran who died by suicide after their military service, acknowledging the profound impact of war-related trauma. This award was presented to the family in a solemn and moving tribute.

Green Star Lapel Pins Presented:
Families of veterans who died by suicide were also presented with
the first Green Star Lapel Pins ever issued in the United States, symbolizing strength, remembrance, and the need for awareness around veteran mental health and suicide prevention.

Green Star Scholarship Awarded:
The event also marked the presentation of our
first Green Star Scholarship, a new initiative launched by The Center for Warriors Foundation to provide educational support to children and family members of Green Star veterans. This scholarship was created to honor their legacy through opportunity and empowerment.

Patriotic and Spiritual Tributes:
The program featured a powerful
flag ceremony by Malmstrom Air Force Base, the Capital High School Choir performing God Bless America, Amazing Grace, and the National Anthem, and heartfelt prayers by Russ McCurdy. Our keynote speaker, Lieutenant Colonel Darin Gaub, delivered a stirring tribute to the courage and sacrifice of our fallen heroes.

This year's Memorial Day Service was more than a remembrance—it was a declaration of our commitment to recognize all forms of military sacrifice, including those carried in silence. We extend our deepest gratitude to every speaker, performer, volunteer, and attendee who helped make this event a success.
